HEXANA and Norsk Kjernekraft have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore joint opportunities for the deployment of advanced nuclear technology in Norway. This strategic cooperation combines HEXANA’s cutting-edge expertise in Advanced Modular Reactors (AMR) and Generation IV systems with Norsk Kjernekraft’s deep understanding of Norway’s regulatory landscape, industrial base, and energy market.
The MoU sets the stage for future collaboration to help meet Norway’s industrial decarbonization goals. Key sectors such as petrochemicals, refining, steel, and data centers require reliable, high-temperature, low-carbon energy and advanced nuclear reactors offer a compelling solution to support the country’s climate targets and long-term energy security and industrial sovereignty.
HEXANA is developing a next-generation energy platform that integrates AMRs with a high-temperature thermal storage system, delivering heat up to 500°C alongside flexible and low-carbon electricity. As part of its sustainable approach to nuclear innovation, HEXANA also aims to contribute to initiating the closure of the nuclear fuel cycle by fueling its reactors with reprocessed spent fuel. This circular energy and sustainable nuclear approach reduces waste volume and longevity while decreasing dependence on imported enriched uranium, ensuring sufficient resources for thousands of years.
As a prospective nuclear operator in Norway, Norsk Kjernekraft will assist HEXANA in identifying sites, market opportunities and building relationships with key industrial and institutional players.
“This Memorandum of Understanding marks a meaningful step in our shared ambition to deliver carbon-free, scalable and sovereign energy solutions for major industrial players. By joining forces with Norsk Kjernekraft, we are building a bridge between cutting-edge innovation and real-world implementation, unlocking the full potential of Generation IV reactors to deliver clean, secure, high-temperature energy for Norway’s most critical industries.”
— Sylvain NIZOU, CEO and co-Founder of HEXANA
“France has long been a global leader in nuclear technology, and HEXANA stands at the very forefront of this tradition. Their approach to delivering high-temperature heat through advanced nuclear reactors and integrated thermal storage aligns perfectly with the needs of Norwegian industry. As part of our strategy to attract world-class nuclear expertise to Norway, we are proud to collaborate with HEXANA. Electrification alone is not enough — decarbonizing our industrial sector requires process heat, and HEXANA delivers exactly that.”
